Setting up Crime Catcher to allow you to view the camera remotely.

Step 1 - Set Crime Catcher up to allow Remote Viewing
This is very easy. Simply go into the options and into your Camera (camera1 for example) and into Remote Viewing. Tick the box to allow remote viewing and leave the port at default. The port is like a 'channel' that we use the Remote Viewer to connect to. Click OK to save your changes. Crime Catcher is now ready to allow Remote Viewing.

Step 2 - Using the Remote Viewer on the same machine
Staying on the same PC, go through your Start Menu and load up the Remote Viewer. If you have left everything at defaults you should be able to just click connect. Alternatively, write eddwod.easycgimysql.com in the host box and the port number that you have put in Crime Catcher.

Step 3 - Using the Remote Viewer on a LAN
Load up the Remote Viewer on the other machine. You will at time of writing have to install Crime Catcher but you don't need a licence if you are only running the remote viewer. Now in the host box, enter the Name or IP address of this machine. Mine for instance is Edd.

Step 4 - Using the Remote Viewer over the Internet
This is most likely what you'll want to achieve. The principle is the same with the complications being firewalls, proxies, routers, etc. To achieve this, you need to know the IP address of the machine running Crime Catcher. This may unfortunately change so you will need to check this each time you connect this machine to the internet. Head over to http://www.ipchicken.com or to http://www.whatismyip.com and note down the number it gives you. Now if it is a simple setup, you just need to put this number into the host/IP address in the Remote Viewer and press connect. If there is a long pause and you receive an error message we need to figure out why. Lets try going through a list:
